Organ donor
Give the Gift of Life
Right now, thousands of people are waiting for a second chance—simply because there aren’t enough organ donors. Of the 123,000 Americans in need of a lifesaving organ transplant, over 101,000 are waiting for a kidney. Yet each year, only about 17,000 people receive one. Tragically, 12 people die every day waiting. Becoming an organ and tissue donor could change that—and give someone the chance to live a full life.
About Organ Donation
Deceased Donation
Becoming a registered organ and tissue donor is easy. Just visit Donate Life America to sign up through your state’s online registry, or mark your decision on your driver’s license.
It’s also important to talk with your loved ones about your decision. Even if you’re registered, family members are often asked to confirm donation, so making your wishes known is a key step in ensuring they’re honored.
Living Donation
You don’t have to wait to make a life-saving difference. Living donation is an option for healthy individuals willing to donate an organ or part of one—most often a kidney—to someone in need. Donors can be family, friends, coworkers, or even complete strangers. Non-directed donations (anonymous donors) are also making an incredible impact. Click here to learn more about living donation.
Faith & Organ Donation
Nearly all major religions support organ and tissue donation, recognizing it as a powerful act of compassion and generosity. Click here to learn more about religious views on donation.
